...the roller coaster dictionary! With over a hundred current entries and growing, coastionary.com is, hopefully, destined to become one of the best roller coaster reference sites on the web. Search for terms directly, browse by letter, or, if you want to further increase the coastionary's accuracy, contribute. Contribution by you (the reader) is more than welcome! Suggest new terms, report any inaccuracies in existing ones, send in example pictures to be posted (author/contributer information shows up in popup when image is clicked).
The coastionary was created, obviously, by enthusiasts for enthusiasts--but, anybody is welcome here. Whether you're an old pro wanting to brush up on your coaster terminology or a curious newcomer this site, hopefully, maybe of use for you.

264 and Still Going

There are now 264 entries in the coastionary. I only have about 36 more to go until I reach 300! And I do plan on having that many or more. Of course, I still haven't done much as far as example pictures are concerned. I started, and that's about as far as I got; mostly because all of it is reliant upon me searching them out.
Also, I've thought about some entries having more than one pic. And I might have to redo the front page a little bit--I'm still not satisfied with the way the random and "entry of the day" are displayed. |

Currently, I'm working on finding example photos. The idea is to have a explanatory picture for each entry. However, I want to have photos from various rides. So, if you have a photo that you think matches a term let me know. |

Well, there are now approximately 250 entries on the site--I'm still finding more and more to add each day. Probably when I'm at around 300 or so, I'll put the word out. I want the site to have a bit of substance and depth before I let the cat out of the bag, so to speak. |
Site Near Ready for Unveiling

Well, most of the site is now complete--that is most of the non-database pages have been completed. I've still a number of terms to enter, and I want to do a few things to some of the posts that contain sample photos.
Also, I've given the site a Google-esque look, which I think is easier to navigate and use and looks decent. I just wasn't satisfied with the original look I had done.
In the next week or so I should be ready to release the site fully to the public. I'm sure some have already stumbled across it--but, maybe not. |

I've been busy putting in entries. In fact, I'm well past 100 now. But, there are a few things I'd like to address with the site before I continue--little snafus are always bound to show up, and I'm sure these are just little.
My next project is going to be figuring out the best way of doing the non-database pages (the ones that are external to the dictionary itself), which I plan on eventually having quite a few of. Just basic content pages; I guess I'll have to speak with the Wolf and see what he thinks :)
I don't want to release this site fully to the public until I've gotten most, if not all, of the kinks worked out. I hope it will be a success and that the enthusiast community will receive it well...but you never know. |
